Italy Pictures

I've finally posted my pictures from my summer in Italy. I didn't take the time to label any of them because there are SO many! If you have questions about what anything is i'm glad to answer. But i did separate them by city. I do have to appologise because many of my favorite pictures of Rome are from my Mom's camera and I dont have them to upload to the web. Saddest Day Ever

I now it has been ages since i posted and unfortuanately i do not bring the usual joy to this particular posting. Today i recieved one of the most heart wrenching emails of all time. it read as follows:

Dearest Listener,

After seven years of extensive touring in support of three records (seventeen years
as a band), we've decided to take a break of indefinite length at the end of 2007
to preserve the environment we've sought so hard to create and to pursue other
interests. It has been a pleasure to write, record, and perform for you through the
years and we'd like to heartily thank you for your invaluable contribution to our
musical lives.

foreign language

i learned italian yesterday. well at least a couple of key phrases.
I learned how to say "excuse me"
"sir" and "miss"
"do you understand english"
"i understand a little italian"
and "i'm American"

you should ask me to speak it to you so that i can stay in practice

Best day of my life

Liz and i always talk about how girls live in extremes. How when something good happens girls are all "This is the BEST day of my life" and then 5 minutes later their hair gets messed up and the are like "This is the worst day of my life!"

well today really feels like the best day of my life and here is why:

• I have been accepted to study abroad in Florence Italy this summer
• the stairs outside my room have re-opened
• i got to wear my new chacos (which i purchased at 50% off) to class
• I meet the new student i'm tutoring
• It was beautiful outside until about 3pm
• Did i mention im going to ITALY!!!
  

Lego-man star wars

i never thought i'd see the day when i would enjoy playing a video game. Jerod bought Lego man Star Wars for us to play together. All of the charachters are lego-men and the levels are constructed out of lego pieces. my favorite character is Obi-Wan, he's got some serious light saber action and can use the force. i can actually handle most of what the game requires. i haven't fully mastered jumping across things though. its been fun for jerod and i to play together. we get a pretty good laugh out of my lack of skill.

Spring 2006: best semester ever

This has been my best first week of classes ever! here is what i'm taking:

MAE 301 Thermodynamics
The instructor made this class sound really scary on the first day, but i'm feeling pretty goood about it. i think its going to be a lot like my CHE205 class was.


ENG 209 Shakespeare: Greatest Hits
This is by far my favorite academic class this semester. not only do i love shkaespeare but my instructor is GREAT. he makes his point but entertains... a rare talent

CE 381 Hydraulics Lab
This lab is going to be pretty cool i think. we get to play with water and it doesn't meet every week

CE 383 Hydrology: Urban water systems
i get to play with a really cool topographical map in this class. my professor seems cool too with the exception of the fact that he sucks air through his teeth... annoying.

CE 375 Civil Engineering systems
This seems to be the only dud i got stuck with this semester. its REAL boreing but such is life at times.

PRT 276 Geographic Information Systems
This one is only offered as an online course, a first for me. i get to do mapping with computers though, seems interesting.

PE 276 Whitewater Rafting
And this is second favorite. i get to take 2 weeked trips and begin training as a whitewater rafting guide. It doest get better than this. I think this class is going to make me want to be a professional outdoorsman when i grow up!
