Why Should the FIre Die?

Last night seven of us made the treck to Greensboro for a Nickel Creek show. in the words of Sarah Puckett, "This is the best night ever!" and it was...

After arriving in g'boro we needed to find a place to eat before the concert. jerod's quick decision making skills seved us well and we ended up at Stamey's oldfashioned barbeque. it was real good and real cheap, the begining of a great night.

Then we went to the show and it was nothing short of fantastic! we had amazing 3rd row seats where we could really experiance the music. i have seen nickel creek 3 times now and this was by far the best show i've ever seen them do. They are real people and incredibly talented musicians. There were several spectacular jam sessions and they played many songs old and new. they even did a cover of brittany spears' toxin... that was funny.

After the concert we hung around for a bit and were able to meet their bassist mark shatz as well as Sara, the fiddler. she's beautiful and real. i had a short converstion with her about the shows they were playing and how she thought tonight was really special because of the response from the crowd. I was impressed with how patient she was with all of her fans and with how down to earth and friendly she was. she was also more than happy to sign our tickets and t-shirts. Unfortuantely a mob of shrieking girls scared chris away (and sean as a result). all in all it made for an incredible night with lots of memories to cherish

stop the construction!

since before the dawn of time... or last semester, bragaw hall has been undergoing the addition of new railings. The first wing of bragaw was completed last spring... and thats it. you may be wodering why the University did not see to it that the railing project was completed this summer? I ask myself this same question... especially when the work crew is banging on metal outside my window at 7 in the morning, or when the work crew is banging on metal out side my window at lunch time, or when the work crew decides to change it up a bit and bang on metal while simultaneously drilling very loudly outside my window while i am trying to get my work done. This noise is supposed to be continuing into march: just long enought to drive me completely mad! i can only hope that the workmen will finish sooner than projected though that is not likely. ANGER!
