This is what happens when i'm bored

Today is my last day of work before the plant closes for a Christmas holiday. There is not much actual work to be done today, in part due to the fact that most normal people are using up the last of their vacation before the end of the year. SO, i am left with nothing to do but sip hot chocolate and dwell in my own thoughts. My mind has wanderd into song as it often does and a well loved tune that was played on the radio this morning on my way in to work dances across my brain... Song, song of the south sweet potatoe pie and i shut my mouth, Gone, gone with the wind aint nobody looking back again... As the lyrics cascade through my mind i begin to think about the home i've made for myself in the south (North Carolina duh!) and all the southern things i miss now that i'm here in Connecticut. so here is a short list:

  • Northeastern Carolina Barbeque
Old Time will always be the best
  • Sweet Tea
They just dont understand sweet tea up north
  • Southern Hospitality
What's better than smiling boys that WANT to hold doors for you?
  • Appalachian Mountains
    Thats pronounced App-uh-latch-in
  • Bible belt churches
    Yep they are everywhere
  • That wonderful accent
"Yall" is music to my ears!
  • North Carolina College Basketball
NC State, Carolina and Duke all within a half hour of each other... can't top that

Can't Stop the Signal

Serenity came out on DVD yesterday. So it seems only appropriate that the following song go out in honor of the film:

Take my love,
Take my land,
Take me where i cannot stand.
I dont care,
I'm still free,
You can't take the sky from me.

Take me out
to the black.
Tell them I ain't commin' back.
Burn the land
and boil the sea.
You can't take the sky from me

There's no place I can be
since I found Serenity.
But you can't take the sky from me...
